Closed Primary Election

The gubernatorial election cycle begins with a Primary Election in August of 2014. Florida is a closed primary state, which means the selection of a party's candidate in a Primary Election is limited to registered members of that party. If you wish to vote in a partisan Primary Election, you must be a registered voter in the party for which the primary is being held. Party changes must be made 29 days before the Primary Election, which is July 28, 2014. All registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, may vote on issues and nonpartisan candidates in a primary election.

New Registrations & Party Changes

If you are not registered or wish to change your party affiliation, you must do so 29 days prior to Election Day. To register or change your party, please use the Florida Voter Registration Application and deliver or mail it to the Elections Office by the deadline.
