why should i vote in a primary?

Primary elections typically have a lower turnout, despite the fact that every voter may cast a ballot in these elections. Primary elections are important!  All voters, regardless of political party affiliation are eligible to vote for nonpartisan contests. These races are important, several nonpartisan races could be decided in the Primary. Even if you do not declare a party affiliation, you may still vote for the nonpartisan races. As with any election, if you choose not to vote, someone else is making the decision for you.

Closed Primary Elections

Florida is a closed Primary state. If you wish to vote for a partisan office in this Primary Election, you must be a registered voter in the party for which the Primary is being held. All registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, may vote in Universal Primary Contests, nonpartisan races and city candidates in a Primary Election. Please note that regularly scheduled elections for the City of Palm Coast will be held concurrently with this election.

PARTY CHANGE DEADLINE

The party change deadline for the upcoming Primary Election is July 22, 2024. To change your party affiliation to vote in this election, consider using Florida's Online Voter Registration System to make the change. You may also complete the paper Florida Voter Registration Application form for a party change and deliver or mail it to the Elections Office by the deadline: July 22, 2024.

VOTE BY MAIL INFORMATION:

Any registered voter may choose to Vote-By-Mail. The deadline to request a Vote-By-Mail ballot is August 8, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Vote-by-Mail ballots must be received in the Elections Office no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, August 20, 2024. Voters may place a request for a mail ballot by phone, (386) 313-4170 or online: Request a mail ballot.

Many voters in our county prefer to vote by mail for the convenience of voting from home, due to work, travel, transportation, or health reasons. We mail ballots all over the world to overseas citizens and our military service members who are serving overseas. Florida has been a no-excuse absentee (also known as Vote-By-Mail) state for over 20 years. Mail ballots will be sent to all voters who have requested a Vote-By-Mail ballot. In the State of Florida, mail ballots are counted in every election.

  • Deadline to request a mail ballot: August 8, 2024
  • Overseas (UOCAVA) absentee mail date: July 5, 2022
  • Domestic Vote-by-Mail date: July 11, 2024

EARLY VOTING

Any registered and eligible voter may vote early in this election. Early voting will be held August 10 - August 17, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at four locations in Flagler County.

Election Day Voting

You must vote in your assigned precinct on Election Day. Polls will be open on Election Day from 7:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Do you know where to vote? Find your precinct using our online Precinct Finder. Your Election Day voting precinct is also located on your Voter Information Card.
